Gold rises when the other low
REASONS TO INVEST IN GOLD:
Gold as an investment haven. When the economy collapses, gold goes up. A simple law that is confirmed in each of the crises that have occurred. During periods of inflation, gold is the best.
Limited. In the entire history has been extracted 153,000 tons of gold, about a cube of the height of the Statue of Liberty. Metal reserves are estimated still to draw between 50,000 and 60,000 tons. At the present rate, it is estimated that the reserves will be exhausted in about 15 years.
Solid investment. When the Stock Market is volatile, is close to bursting the bubble in the housing market and interest rates are not attractive, gold becomes the most desirable investment.
Financial crisis. If you fear the financial stability, and prefer to withdraw your savings deposited in a bank and to keep them in a safe deposit box or under a tile (which makes many people) you should know that money in the event of financial collapse, will lose its value, but not the Gold.
Operating costs. The cost of extraction is constantly increasing. Deposits are growing deeper. Holdings that were not profitable have been reopened due to price increases and new extraction technologies.
Increased demand for the "New Markets". Countries with emerging economies like India and China have seen their purchasing power increased. Gold in these countries, traditionally, is a symbol of prosperity and its widespread use in social and religious festivities. No wonder these countries are making a significant rise in world demand, and therefore its price.
Fever Gold. Passion, attraction... Gold has led expeditions and conquests, wars and invasions. Thousands of people move to inhospitable territory looking for gold and build cities in California, Alaska ...
Price. Governed by the market, gold prices may increase or decrease depending on the demand or supply, but the Gold has never lost its value and it cannot lose.
Eternal. Its chemical characteristics make gold virtually unchanged. Gold cannot be burned as a bank note, and cannot be break like a diamond (it has maximum hardness but relatively fragile breakage).
Trust. The economy is based on trust. A bank note has no value in itself, has value only if there is a widespread belief that it has value. The value of gold is not based on its utility (although it has an important industrial use) but is given primarily for its scarcity.
Gold standard. A few years ago, the value of a bank note was supported with noble metals like gold and silver: "The Bank of Spain will pay to bearer the amount of ... in Gold. " Today the only thing that gives value to a bank note is the confidence in who is issued. When this confidence decreases, the ticket loses its value. We are in a period where inflation is increasing and we need every day more money to buy the same item.
